Many young Asian Americans want to become civicleaders, but don’t know how. To address a part of this problem, the CivicLeadership Forum will hold an interactive conference on December 5 to cover howto seek elective office and how to become a judge. In a hands-on, interactiveway, we will teach young Asian Americans who want to seek elective office: (a)how to prepare yourself to be a candidate; (b) how to develop a message (whatyou want to do for your constituents and why you’re the best person to do it);(c) how to build a campaign team; (d) how to raise money; and, (e) how toconduct mass communication with the public, both during the campaign and afteryou’re in office. For those interested in becoming a judge, we will teach howto prepare yourself to be a judge and how to seek a judgeship.

The principal facilitators for the electoral segmentwill be former US Congressman David Wu and (title) (name). The principalfacilitators for the judicial segment will be Judge (name) and (title)(name-hope for Ms. Tom)

The Forum will be held in San Mateo, California onSaturday, December 5, 2015, the program from 2 to 6 PM, with dinner to follow.Both will be at Porterhouse located at 60 E. Third Ave. San Mateo, CA 94401.  The Forum is made possible by the generoussupport of Vision New America.

1 pm to 2 pm  Registration and Refreshments & Networking
2 pm to 2:30 pm  Introductions of the Forum (David speaks and Q & A)
2:30 pm to 3:20 pm Legislative Politics (5 parts): David Wu and Fiona Ma
         -How to prepare yourself to be a candidate
         -How to develop a message
         -How to build a campaign team
         -How to raise money
         -How to conduct mass communication with the public
3:30 pm to 4:15 pm Legislative Politics continues
4:30 pm to 5:30 pm Appointments to the Executive, Judicial Branch, State Boards, and Commissions: Maeley Tom and Mark Kaem
5:30 pm to 6:00 pm Creating a National Network: Civic Leadership Forum-Sandy Chu
6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Hor d’uerves and Networking
7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Dinner 
Sandy opens dinner and wrap up the program with his vision
Have table host help generate discussions
Everyone say a few words on their future commitments and plans
